Artist as Social Entrepreneur
Increasingly around Australia we are seeing positive examples of artists working as social entrepreneurs. These artists activate diverse strategies towards socio and political change by linking contemporary arts practice with the emerging field of social entrepreneurship. Their projects engage with identified communities and span artforms and community issues – from film, to photography, theatre and music; from issues of domestic abuse, to cultural dislocation and corporate greed. The measuring stick for a project's success is the positive social impact it has on the community. This forum will invite leading practitioners to unpack working methods through exploration of their current partnerships and projects in the realm of social entrepreneurship.
